Frequently asked questions about CD/14

When must a CD/14 be issued?
An OFTEC technician must issue a CD/14 whenever they find an oil appliance or installation classified as Immediately Dangerous (ID) or At Risk (AR). Best practice is to also issue one for Not to Current Standard (NCS) defects.
What is the difference between ID, AR, and NCS for oil?
Immediately Dangerous (ID) means immediate risk to life, the appliance must be turned off. At Risk (AR) means not immediately dangerous but could become so. Not to Current Standard (NCS) means it does not meet current standards but is not immediately unsafe.
