Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC)

An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is issued when new electrical work is completed, such as a new circuit, consumer unit replacement, or rewire. It confirms the installation has been designed, constructed, inspected, and tested to BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations). The EIC must be issued by a qualified electrician and, for notifiable work, submitted to Building Control via a Competent Person Scheme.

When is an EIC required?
An EIC is required for all new electrical installations and additions — consumer unit replacements, new circuits, rewires, and any notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations.
What is the difference between an EIC and a Minor Works certificate?
An EIC covers new installations and circuits. A Minor Works certificate covers small alterations to existing circuits (e.g. adding a socket to an existing ring). If you're adding a new circuit, you need an EIC.
Does CertBox validate Zs readings?
