Frequently asked questions about plumbing symbols

Are Irish plumbing symbols different from UK ones?
No. Ireland adopts IS EN 806 which is the same as BS EN 806. The graphical symbols for pipes, valves, and sanitary appliances are identical.
What qualifications do Irish plumbers need?
Plumbers in Ireland must be registered with the Register of Plumbers (under QQI). Gas work requires separate RGII registration.
