Is a CD/12 legally required for landlords?
Unlike gas (where a CP12 is legally required), there is no specific UK law mandating annual oil safety checks for landlords. However, landlords have a general duty of care under the Landlord and Tenant Act, and many insurance policies require annual oil appliance servicing.
Is a CD/12 the same as a CP12?
No. A CP12 is for gas installations. A CD/12 is for oil installations. They serve a similar purpose but for different fuel types. The CD/12 is issued by an OFTEC-registered technician, the CP12 by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
