Does every EV charger need its own dedicated circuit?
Not necessarily — NEC 625 and 750.30 permit multiple charging stations to share a feeder or service when a listed Energy Management System (EVEMS) actively limits the combined load to what the circuit can carry, rather than sizing for the sum of every charger's full nameplate rating.
How is overcurrent protection sized for EV charging equipment?
EV charging loads are treated as continuous. NEC 625.41 requires the branch-circuit or feeder overcurrent device to be rated at least 125% of the maximum load the equipment can draw, unless a listed EVEMS is used to cap the load instead.
