Test & Tag Certificate

The Australian Test & Tag Certificate documents the in-service safety inspection and electrical testing of portable appliances and equipment, in accordance with AS/NZS 3760 (In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment and RCDs). Testing and tagging is a legal requirement for equipment used in a hostile operating environment, and on construction and demolition sites, under regulation 150 of the model WHS Regulations. Construction and demolition sites are hostile by definition, with no risk assessment step, and are tested every 3 months. In an ordinary office it is not separately mandated: what applies there is the general duty to keep equipment safe, and AS/NZS 3760 intervals running out to 5 years for low-risk equipment that stays put. The certificate records each item tested, its visual inspection result, and the measured insulation resistance and earth continuity.
