Frequently asked questions about Pool Barrier

How tall must a pool barrier be?
Under ISPSC Section 305 the barrier must be at least 48 inches above finished ground level, measured on the side facing away from the pool. States and municipalities can amend this, so the report records the locally adopted code applied.
What are the gate requirements?
Pedestrian gates must open outward away from the pool, be self-closing and self-latching. Where the latch release is less than 54 inches from the bottom of the gate, it must be on the pool side at least 3 inches below the top, with no opening greater than ½ inch within 18 inches of the release.
