LABC Warranty

An LABC Warranty provides structural defect insurance for new homes, similar to NHBC Buildmark, with 10-year cover. It is run by MD Insurance Services Limited in partnership with LABC, the local authority building control body, and is available on sites that use Local Authority Building Control. Most lenders treat it as an alternative to NHBC Buildmark.

By most, but it is decided lender by lender rather than centrally. There is no industry-wide approved list: each lender sets out which warranty providers it accepts in its own section of the UK Finance Mortgage Lenders’ Handbook (section 6.7.1 in England and Wales). LABC Warranty is one of the widely accepted providers alongside NHBC and Premier Guarantee — but check the specific lender before you rely on it.
