Geyser Installation Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
The South African Geyser Installation Certificate of Compliance (CoC) is issued by a PIRB-registered plumber on completion of an electric, solar, or heat pump water heater installation, replacement, or repair. It records the SANS 10254 safety components — drip tray, temperature & pressure relief valve, vacuum breakers, and isolation valve. Since 24 June 2022, SANS 10254 itself no longer mandates a CoC nationally, but several municipalities (notably the City of Cape Town), insurers, and property developers still require one. CertBox produces the supporting installation record; where an electrical CoC is required for the geyser circuit it must be issued separately by a registered person on the prescribed Annexure 1 form.
